The Long Answer:
Our digestive systems are the center of our entire bodies. If our digestive systems are not working properly we have problems assimilating the nutrients from the foods that we eat and getting rid of the waste and toxins that are byproducts of the digestive process. Unfortunately, current day conditions have virtually guaranteed that none of our digestive systems are working at their optimum level.
Fortunately, by drinking Rejuvelac as often as possible along with limiting our intake of junk food, processed foods, alcohol and antibiotics we can restore essential digestive enzymes and help our bodies function the way they were meant to.
Rejuvelac's main function is to improve digestion by cleansing the digestive system and restoring the good intestinal flora needed for digestion and assimilation of nutrients. In day-to-day life, essential digestive enzymes are destroyed, mainly by junk food, alcohol and antibiotics, among other things. Antibiotics especially wreak havoc on our digestive systems. Their entire purpose is to kill whatever bacteria is making us sick. Unfortunately, they kill any bacteria that they come in contact with, including much of the good bacteria, flora, and enzymes that make up our digestive system. When these essential digestive enzymes are destroyed, putrefactive bacteria takes over the intestinal tract. Acidophilus destroys these harmful bacteria and improves digestion, a key component of good health.
Our Rejuvelac is very unique in that it is one of the only non-dairy probiotic sources of acidophilus on the market. Other than our Rejuvelac, there are basically two main forms of acidophilus from which people can choose, both of which have major drawbacks.
The first are dairy-based forms like most other brands’ acidophilus culture or probiotic yogurts like kefir. The important issue with these is that they are dairy based and people who are lactose intolerant cannot handle them, while people on vegan diets won’t use them. This is a major problem because many of the people who have digestive problems and are most in need of probiotic acidophilus are the very ones who are often lactose intolerant or on diets prohibiting them from eating dairy products. Also, there are many cultures around the world where up to 80% of the population have one form or another of lactose intolerance. This eliminates about half of the world’s population from being able to effectively use these dairy-based sources of acidophilus enzymes.
The other main form of probiotic acidophilus is in supplements. Most of these are soy based, but surprisingly some are dairy based as well. The main problem with any powdered or dry supplement is that human bodies do not digest and assimilate the nutrients from them (acidophilus enzymes in this case) nearly as well as they do from living, liquid food; making them somewhat ineffective.
Our Rejuvelac is wheat based (non-dairy) and easy to assimilate, making it an effective and easy way for everyone to get their probiotic acidophilus enzymes and give their digestive system the boost that it needs. It is:
Rejuvelac is usually consumed straight out of the bottle, but some people prefer mixing it with other juices, such as pomegranate, cranberry, or others (tart juices seem to mix well). As for its taste, what we hear most often is that it tastes like unsweetened lemonade, liquid unflavored yogurt, or beer. If one finds the taste unappealing, mixing it is a great way to make it more palatable, and get some extra antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.
